I thought he looked ill and very frail in the Where Are We Now video and the lyrics kinda backed tha

...hadn't seen the Lazarus video before but does look like he was sign posting it even more with that one (tho it is clearly referencing a number of influences but I'm too uncultured to work out what)..

That said it is still a shock when someone dies whether you know thet're ill or not...

And fair play to once last (what looks like to me) master stroke: birthday on Friday and than sadly dies on the Monday; maximum impact which is what most of his career was about...

It isn't a generational thing - some people are just better than others and he was one of those rare people...
