If you can't afford it, don't buy it, until you can, or you can in the very near future with a high probability.
I know it's not that simple for everyone, that's where proper state aid and support come into play for the truly needy and deserving, those who are unable to not unwilling.
Better mental health in childhood, especially schools would help. Kids who come from dysfunctional families stand no chances these days and haven't done for ages. They need guidance to help them make a better future for themselves, to break the chain/cycle of whatever problems their parents were struggling with.
