I thought of you when I heard them. You may have a point mind

I read this comment in The Guardian under one of their NY articles

FIREWORKS

When I watch the New Year eve fireworks I feel anger, sad with a heavy heart. The rare earth metals (which the fireworks burn) on Earth are strategic resources for human future. Many high tech equipment need them to build. They are cheap; we can afford to burn them. Yes. But the market only reflects the present demand and supply conditions. It excluded / externalised the endless of future generations. The market, the modern economics totally externalised the far future, because it don?t talk, it don?t have a hard leverage on the present economic factors (they are the unborn, the weakest). Its leverage can only projected on the reality through our rational thinking, but that is exactly the thing our modern economy denies as mirage, too far, irrelevant. The whole human kind had lost direction dangerously. We don?t know why we live and how to live. We take real mirage as real destiny and happily and enthusiastically chase them towards extinction hundreds or thousands generations ahead. It is the distance in time that puzzled us and makes us think it is not real, too early to consider about. But we know the laws of thermodynamic is true and what we do now is irreversible that will determine the fate of our future.
Not only rare earth metals but all vital resources we are wasting on our overbreeding, chasing happiness, vanity life styles, competition, etc? we even tap into the Earth life blood --- geothermal energy for house heating and generate power and the main stream are planning a total transfer to geothermal energy.
We always celebrating, what to celebrate for my friend?
