Best NCFC Chairman of my lifetime. Thanks for everything Alan. All the best Sir

Never, ever forget the state we were in when Bowkett came in alongside McNally in Summer 2009. On the verge of administration; a total shower on the pitch; a laughing stock of a football club.

The business sense and sheer ruthlessness which AB and DM injected was incredibly overdue, and it rescued us from God knows what. The transformation on the pitch which followed was astounding, and a direct result of the leadership provided by these two men.

Also, never forget the joint majority shareholders having the wherewithal and humility to step back and let the professionals do their job. Everyone benefited as a result. In recent years, I don't know if Bowkett, an enormously busy man with many other business interests, was able to put the same amount of time and energy into the club - and his reputation is as a troubleshooter, not necessarily someone best suited to consolidating and pushing on subsequently.

It's encouraging to hear the club say that new directors and a new Chairman will be appointed soon. Those recruitments will tell us a fair amount about where we're heading. Right now, there is a danger of things going stale and us falling back into a bit of a rut, especially on the pitch. We do badly need to freshen things up and get some new ideas into the club.

But for all the work he did over 6 and a half remarkable years, thanks Alan. Good luck mate.
