Only time I have used a detector was years ago -

I went with my bro in law (who was good) to a site near Chatteris (Bandit Country) and as I know now we were Nighthawks as my sis dropped us off at 11pm on some church owned
ground and we found about 15 roman coins in 30 mins till some nearby dogs started barking and a landrover came and we hid in a ditch. All very exciting but illegal.
