In all fairness

He managed to make us fairly tight against Man City, Arsenal and Chelsea (okay maybe not so impressive). Just four goals conceded in those three games. Two of those goals were also gifted by a keeper in dire form.

I think Neil can make us defensively sound, but like you said before, maybe he underestimated Watford (who are looking decent this season).
