Remember, I was the first guy on here to turn on him - before I woke up to just how difficult it actually was. Then the board neither backed him nor sacked him; then the timing and replacement were nuts.
The only thing I'd say in Hughton's case was his way couldn't have worked long term. It was always going to go wrong at some point, and we'd chucked it on our travels by the end. But the West Brom game loomed as the pivotal match throughout the season - and once we went behind, the atmosphere was of poisonous mutiny in the last possible game we could afford that.
To put it another way: this season will be a tight battle between now and May. Everyone has to stick together. We don't have the margin for error not to do that.
