as it gives the Lib Dems a genuine chance to rebuild in a way that would never have happened with a strong labour party. It would have been a disaster to only have 2 main parties.
The other interesting angle is that, especially if the Labour party fragments, it may speed up proper PR as there will be leakage of votes to all of the 'minor' parties (UKIP, Greens, PC, SNP) which in the long term will make FPTP untenable.
