Owning a knife and an air gun from what I remember isn't illegal. I didn't see stated, that it was in his hand luggage. If it was the main luggage of the plane, what damage would it do?
Yes the passenger is pretty dumb in the circumstances, but this is the point isn't it? A nation in fear and searching ordinary members of the public
There's nothing wrong with fining this man for carrying these items in an airport, but he's not necessary a terrorist. Is it relevant to close terminals and make a big deal out of things which happen on a daily basis? In doing so represents everything the terrorists want, a large amount of fear felt widespread
You're right, you saw packages heavilly packed with tape scruitinised. This is good practice. I'm not saying security isn't good. I'm saying making a farce out of a air gun and a knife isn't the same as finding an ied, or masses of ammunition in a car, or a bag full of components left to cause distress elsewhere
Charge someone for having an air rifle in a suitcase, but don't make out or compare it to friday
