We defo stunk out 2002 ? we were even flat when beating Denmark 3-0! 1998 was a decent team, but Hoddle did pick Batty, Ince and Rob Lee ahead of Gazza, so there was a reliance on pragmatism over flair...

I went back 20 years cos I was comparing the potential of the England side to the Venables team of 96 - plenty of creative players with an emphasis on getting the most out of them outside of a 4-4-2. ie. lots of fun!
