that there was nothing to measure it against. It was the first game following a dreadful season in which we plummeted new depths and the result was a sign of worse to come. The 7-1 against Blackburn in 93 was bearable because we'd had a good season. The 3-1 defeat at Tranmere under Lambert was shrugged off because we still knew we'd be ok. The Colchester game suggested that, not only were we in the third tier for the first time in decades, we were also out of our depth there.
