Was going to suggest purchasing property with the wealth

which may avoid the tax as whilst he is alive he makes a decision to pass on his wealth to you in bricks and mortar

But you've said it's all in property, so I'm unsure what to suggest

Sorry to hear you've had the news. My father was diagnosed in March and given 6 months to live, but only lasted 2. Like an animal winding itself down and quickly passing away, I felt he did the same thing. He was never once cared for by anyone and wasn't willing to be. He pretty much got it how he wanted

Talk is my advice to you. Find a friend who's experienced similar and be open about anything you're feeling.
