FAO Charles - no, don't start watching This is England now.
This is England 90 is so complex in how the characters have developed that it would ruin it to watch it from this series.
Start with the film This is England, which is set in 1984. The three TV series that follow this are 86, 88 and 90. It's hard viewing but if you don't invest in the characters from the start, you won't care what happens in 90. I just sobbed my way through the latest episode.
