That's also a rather lazy arguement as inflation alone will pretty much ensure the current

NHS spend is larger than before, doesn't mean spending power has increased.

NHS funding is falling, and has been for a while when taking into account inflation and comparing budget to population numbers.

Even that is before you take into account cost of current drugs/equipment that the NHS of 30 years ago would never have had to fund.

So not really that balanced to just point to the top level budget allocation.
