By a ridiculous factor. Nobody pretends they don't exist and nobody doesn't want to talk about it. It's a question of priority and proportion. Anyone worrying about a small few compared to the massive suffering going on hasn't got that proportion right.
Often it's the same people who would abolish state benefits because a few people defraud them, rather than admire the good that is done for the majority; conveniently overlooking that the powers controlling society, be it government, corporations or religion are committing much worse in their name.
