because as you say his point was very valid, though the target wasn't quite right.

There is a question of where the line is. I've been the wrong side of it before now, though I hope people realise I'm being ironic/satirical when I post e.g. about Jennifer Lawrence (though she is lovely...but I'm old enough to be her grandfather!) I appreciate that irony/satire can be lost in translation. I think this is precisely what happened to usacanary - it's happened to me before when I upset camcan with a post about Carol Vorderman. Camcan was right and I was wrong on a literal reading of my post.

We're quite good at correcting other forms of bigotry but because we regard ourselves (in the main) as from a post-sexist demography, or at least a demography that sees it as so blatantly, obviously wrong that it's OK to take the piss out of it, I think we do sometimes stray the wrong side. As above I know I have in the past, and that's on me and not anyone else.

I hope AB comes back soon. I'm sure usa has moved on and I miss his posts.
