Private/public schools.

A few of points: Pay rates for teachers in the independent sector varies. There is no hard and fast rule for private schools. In my experience, the teachers in private schools have very good subject knowledge (often post-grads) but are often poor practitioners. Class sizes are generally smaller, but the (God-like) academic John Hattie has proved that this is one of the least important factors in teaching and learning. Facilities are generally in a different league. My father went to a 'top' public school and had a terrible time. He's still affected to this day. He refused to send me to private school causing a family feud. I'm sure there are many equally positive tales. Personally if you want to send your kids to independent school, that's entirely a matter for you. There are some pretty good state schools out there though and personally I think they tend to turn out more rounded individuals... Just my opinion.
