I was freelance for seven years and basically thought of it as ?200 a year in return for free offices in Central London with wifi, meeting spaces and posh enough to take clients to which I did. Unbeatable value for that. The rest I could frankly take or leave. It's full of freelancers and very small SMEs, by the way, very few substantial businesses' directors are members if any are. IPSE and FSB are two other bodies to look at.
