Those olympus' are great

Have been using them for the last 5 years or so and they are superb.

As for teaching yourself, if you understand aperture and exposure and shutter speed then I'd say concentrate on looking at photos and checking what you like and how to get it.

Pretty much any interchangeable lenses camera will be far more capable than you need so don't get hung up on kit. Photography forums can be stupidly tribal in that sense.

Also, rather than buying online, go into a shop and feel how they handle.

Also prime, rather than zoom lenses will give you the greatest wow factor.
