did an extra A level in photography just as was interested in it

now have a canon 7d plus various lenses but I started on a basic canon 400d which you can pick up for under ?100 2nd hand and will do the job. I bought mine second hand off a wedding photographer so that tells you they are half decent.

that said my 7d is worlds ahead of it.

most important thing to remember is its better to have decent lenses. if the camera is awesome but the glass the light is passing through is crap, you wont get good pictures. invest in a couple of decent lenses like a 55mm for wide angle shots and 200 to 300mm for telephoto.

loads of good websites that will teach you different techniques and understanding aperture/shutter speed/exposure.
