Are these survey results forming the basis of a thesis?

My father's dad was a plumber and in REME in the war. He was a plumber after WW2 until he retired. My mum's was in the army before the war after doing a few jobs, I believe, then after serving in the war he became a driving examiner. I was the first in the family tree to go to university, though followed by my brother and one of my sisters.

Our parents and our generation have gone through lives without, by and large, direct involvement in wars, which must have shaped us all somehow.
