Thats the skill, knowing what stuff is worth in the open market

I have a book. Unless you knew by looking it up it fetches between $500-$1000 used....... I would bet there are copies sitting out there for sale right now for a few bucks.
Or someone has it in their house and has no clue what its worth.

people have picked up valuable art at thrift shops.
You don't hear about most cases.
