Tebbit was the first I recall giving them a hard time.

Problem for politicians is that it is actually the BBBC's neutrality that causes them a problem. All other powerful media outlets have political interests.

The BBC is one of the world's very greatest things. Attempts to emasculate it are about as depressing as they are predictable.

Under ?3 a week for the quality of output that the rest of the world put together struggles to match.
