Was working very close to Aldgate that day

Walked rather than take tube that day and saw Monument closed as they were evacuating everyone, thought it seemed strange, came on WOTB and people were disputing the "Power Surge" rumours given that there was no mention on the National Grid. Told my gf at the time to take the bus instead, then heard about the bus bomb. Couldn't reach her again afterwards due to the phone networks being shut off by the emergency services, and since she worked in canary wharf at the time, rumours of shootings of terrorists there didn't help, nor did the fact that CW is a pretty good target for them to blow up.
Was a truly horrible nasty life-changing day. Can't even imagine what it must've been like for those directly affected by the bombs and their friends and families etc :(
Fortunately no-one I know directly was involved, but affected the whole capital and country that day. Sad truth is I don't think we will never see something like that again. I know the police and intel services do their best to monitor and prevent, but until we can tackle the root cause of all this hate it can only grow and grow and became a more difficult task of erradicating :(
