My daughter had just been born too, and was in the Royal London Hospital...

...with an infection. And that was where they took a lot of the victims.

Was completely crazy. Mrs Hawes and Hawes Jr Jr were in there for 2 or 3 days, surrounded by the chaos. They turfed out as many of the patients as they could, to make space for it all, but daughter was too ill to leave, so they had to stay. Visiting them was very odd.

Other very strong memory I have is cycling home from work that day through the City of London, and the streets being full of people walking home. Just head down, very calm, very quiet. One of the strangest atmospheres I've ever experienced.
