In the first part of the season we scored some amazing goals. But I was struck by the number of people we had in forward positions for some of them.
There were goals where the ball was whipped in from out wide and there were four players in the area between the goal posts, a man over out wide the other side, another couple hovering on the edge of the box.
And I thought, s**t its lucky we scored, because if we hadn't and they'd hoofed the ball upfield, we'd have been in all sorts of trouble. I mean, is anyone actually defending?
Then I thought, oh yeah, We conceded quite a lot like that once teams sussed us out!
Once AN turned up, I didn't see that happen once. We often had people joining play from behind the ball and in numbers, but never so many ahead of play waiting for the ball. (With the possible exception of Huddersfield away and maybe Bolton away at the death.)
