Have to pay child benefit back with a 'tax charge'

Which sounds kind of the same thing as taking it back in tax anyway - certainly in the first instance. Plus means people would have to do a self-assessment. I can imagine many people struggling with that. Plus all the admin etc.

Like I said, I think initially it was set up like that so that people who needed the benefits got them with no hassle. Just depends if you agree with that or not really x
