if you want an example of everything that was wrong with Colonialism, everything that went wrong with post-Colonial governance, everything that can go wrong with Western (and Far Eastern) government & private company greed/asset stripping, the worst failures of the UN/EU, the worst failures (self-interest, ineptitude, and helplessness) of NGOs, consumer indifference as to environemental/social impacts of the goods we buy, etc, etc, etc, etc...

...the DRC is it.

It has to be the most shat-upon country in the world and yet it should be a powerhouse rivalling any of the BRICs.
