I agree entirely with this

It's not a straight ROI calculation on seat sales to amortise the stand cost either. You're helping build and grow a fan base which is a) part of what football is all about, and b) much more lucrative over the long term than ticket sales alone - think upsells, brand extensions and so on.

I can just about see an argument for waiting one season to make sure we get the uplifted Prem fees, which we won't if we go straight back down. But only just about. I strongly feel we should be looking to get to about 35k capacity in the end, maybe in two jumps. Yes there'd be temporary inconvenience for regulars in whichever stand was being extended but. I'd be keen for us to do it right now unless a) the numbers really don't stack up at all or b) there's a compelling reason not to.

Of course the other way to expand capacity would be to put safe standing in, I think you can stand 3 people for every 2 you can seat or something like that #donstinhat
