I guess its a cultural thing as much as anything

Look at our squad. Several of the black players seem to hang around with each other. If you looked at Fer's wedding he had Bassong and Redmond there. The Spanish lot (and Becchio) used to hang out. I guess you naturally gravitate towards people who are from a similar cultural background, at least initially when you don't know the other people that well.
