I don't think that argument makes sense though

because the two things aren't mutually exclusive.

It was sour grapes that caused the press and FA to really go after Fifa, but that doesn't mean that there wasn't also massive amounts of corruption.

The sour grapes was the catalyst for taking action; I'm not sure why that should detract from everything that has been done.
