Yeah, but, if it's not an organic agent causing the decay, it won't make any difference.

And because the balls won't be completely sealed, you're going to get increasing oxygen over time in there. So you'd need to do regular purging and reinflating with the nitrogen - and surely that'd be bad for the condition of the ball?
