Yeah that 04/05 season was a disaster

Failed to back Worthington properly in the summer so he could sign a quality cb and a cf to replace Iwan. Ended up making a load of cheap punt signings, with Safri only really working out. Ashton signing came too late, should have signed him (or Crouch) in the summer of 04. Worthington was too negative at times too, mostly away from home, while his tactics were often poor too due to how imbalanced the side was. Was a real missed opportunity of a season.

Amazes me how we made such little progress financially, despite spending very little on transfers. Could have been due to the south stand rebuild, I suppose.
