When I lived in Acle, I couldn't afford a season ticket. When I got a job, I'd already moved away. So when I was following home and away, which I did for a number of seasons, a "home" game was a 330-mile round trip for me.
I only bought a membership so I could be sure of a ticket for Fulham which, at the time, might have been the game which saw us secure 2nd place. As it turned out, not so much...
There is a class of fan like you and me for whom life intervenes, but we've shown enough commitment in the past to the club to be somewhere in the reckoning. At least morally. Economically I accept that it ain't necessarily so - but a football club can't just be about the latter at the expense of the former. It's not like any other business.
