I'd maybe ignore Micklegate, unless you enjoy the rowdy 18-30's type crammed 'booze britain' night out :)
La Piazza is a nice restaurant on goodramgate, close to the minster. The two pubs on goodramgate aren't bad either, The White Swan is popular
Not brilliant with restaurants to be honest. I'd maybe stick to that side of town for drinking though. Venture down stonegate, evil eye is a pretty popular bar (cocktails, internet, but the atmosphere in there is pretty good)
If you go down stonegate, then you'll see little stonegate which has three kind of posh bars that aren't bad and Kennedy's has a late liscense. There's a new mexican restaurant down there that seems to be full every time I go by
Coming out of the top of stonegate is St Helens Square that leads onto coney street which has a few bars by the river. Orgasmic does good food down there during the day (and night I think) and it's likeable as trendy pubs go.
