what rules?

there is no rule that says 4th in the league is entitled to the place. It is up to the FA concerned. The FA said clearly last year that if a team won the CL but finished outside the top 4 they would giv ethem the place and teh 4th placed team would go into the UEFA. SO the FA have ignored their rules to give the place to Everton (in the hope that they could force UEFA to goive them a money-spinning 5th place). Kudos to UEFA for putting the FA on the spot - lets hope they don't cave.
