Thoughts:
1. I'll take the result. Not the performance that we wanted, but it's now just a one legged game, and we'd all fancy us against most teams in the league at Carrow road.
2. The performance just felt a bit flat. Too little pressing & too little urgency from the players. Redmond summed it up - I don't think he went out of fourth gear all game. Maybe we'd been told to keep it tighy, but he had a few chances to knock the ball into space & use his pace, but he always looked reluctant to do so.
3. The only way they can beat us is long balls up top and winning the flick ons or knock downs. Really important that our midfielders (esp Tettey) are tracking back when the long balls are flying over them. Martin & bassong are both good defenders, but both make me nervous when the ball is in the air!
4. I'm sure it was tactical - wanting pace to counterattack with - but not playing Wes seemed a mistake. Even the Ipswich fans I spoke to on the train on the way back were surprised and relieved that he didn't play.
All in all, happy with the result. Work to do this week in training but we should have enough for them at Carrow road.
