I don't think France or Germany want to see the UK leave

all Cameron has to do is point to the UKIP % share of the national vote and say 'Give me enough superficial concessions to beat that lot, and I'll get you a 'Yes to the EU' vote in our referendum".

And lo and behold, the UK will be able to put in place a few extra border controls and will get a veto or two on new EU legislation.

Of course you and I (and Cameron) know that there won't be any real concessions, but there don't have to be.
