which has benefits in other ways - in the end the speaker being 'just another MP' is all about the parliament governing itself, rather than the executive. So it is important that he represents a constituency, even if it is a bit annoying for the people there. Just tell yourself you're doing the rest of us a favour.
(Of course, in the end everyone's vote 'has f**k all impact on anything'. Unless you live in a constituency where a candidate wins by a single vote. But can see that's brought into rather sharper relief if you live in your constituency.)
