Sony. The mp3 walkman I had was tremendous. Much greater sound quality than

an iPod, over the same headphones. Not even marginally, noticeably.

Also, no iTunes, which at the time was a massive benefit, although that might be less so now, I don't know. I haven't had to open iTunes in years.
