Blood on the Tracks is my favourite album but The Freewhelin Bob Dylan is also pretty amazing so maybe that is...I dunno both are great. I would start with Freewhelin... though. The Times They Are a-Changin and Bringing it all back home are also essential listens. Personally not got into his stuff since Desire, which came out mid-70's but the Dylan before that is the greatest singer-songwriter of all-time by miles IMO. Great lyrics, great voice and simply great music.
His tribute poem to Woody Guthrie is pure brilliance...
