While I was reading about quinces I saw that they used to be used to perfume bathrooms and the like.

The jelly recipe is probably very simple. Just boil the fruit for a while and strain through muslin, then add the sugar and keep heating.
It's a simple one because, as it contains so much pectin, you don't need to add any thickeners
