I don't subscribe to the modern trend for mass grief for people that none of us knew BUT

in the case of Benaud I have to say that as a cricket fan his voice and fond memories of listening to and watching test matches he was commentating on will stay with me forever. One of those defining voices of an era that just symbolises a sport and a man who seemed to be liked and respected by the whole cricketing world. Possibly the only Aussie bloke I can think of who was adored by the English as much as his own countrymen. The new breed of commentators have a lot to live up to.
