Are either of them set as domain controllers?

My practical knowledge of windows networking is next to nothing - but in my last job we often had windows machines on the network displaying similar behaviour because more than one was defined as the pdc (primary domain controller) - the machines would be unable to agree amongst themselves which should act as the pdc, and so many machines were left unable to access shared drives on other machines, while other were totally fine. Don't get it personally.
