Lovely posting tonight, OM - insightful wrathing.
I also work with politicians at a parliamentary and local level and agree that there is honour and integrity - and t**ttery - in all parties.
But that is precisely why, in a general election, I *don't* 'vote for the person and not the party'. Regardless of constituency activity, it's a national numbers game and I will always make my decision based on bums on Westminster seats. Thus no amount of local flavour will affect my vote.
An indictment of our system? Possibly. But I have to make a personal decision out of national policies because MPs aren't regional leaders or decision makers. They have no local teeth... cogs in the wheel.
