Not sure how interested anyone will be but here's my tuppence.
I'm pretty sure the last match i made it to was the home defeat to Sheff Weds. Yesterday i enjoyed watching the game. Stuff happened and i liked it. This doesn't always occur when i watch Norwich play.
First off i thought Rossi Jarvis was s**t and totally out of his depth (not is s**t, just was in this particular match). This isn't to say the player hasn't got potential but the guy was woefully inexperienced and not totally composed. Is right-back actually his preferred position because the lad doesn't even do the simple things right. I lost count of the number i times he cut inside when the better option was clearly to advance up the wing in the space that was being given and i can't remember him making a single challenge on a winger or even being close enough to make one, which was a clear fault in both goals although for the second the 2 other players should have put a block in as well. Also Doherty was doing a sterling job of covering his (Rossi's) mistakes.
Drury had a very good game. Linked well with Charlton who is very composed on the ball. I thought Etuhu and Jarrett both had really good games when they got into their strides. Both are clearly confidence players who need to get the ball. When the game just goes on around them they look rubbish but when given the chance to actually play they both proved confident and actually linked up very well together in the 2nd half. Jarrett was looking a decent player in the second half.
McVeigh and Henderson were both excellent and personally Henderson was my MOTM. He was fully of running, coming deep to collect the ball and get attacks started. His final ball lacked a lot when out wide but remember, the lad's not really a winger. McVeigh was involved and enthusiastic which was really pleasing and hit an excellent pen. Thorne just didn't look much at all. The guy gets penalised far too much and doesn't look a goal threat. Also he was getting dragged out of the box too much leaving the ridiculous sight of McVeigh going up for headers.
Spillane will be a beast in a couple of years. On eof the young players who could easily play in the Champ at 18 from the physical aspect.
I was, as always, left frustrated by some of my fellow fans. The amount of F'ing and blinding at players who need support is ridiculous. Jarret, Etuhu and Henderson are very harshly treated. Yeah, they make mistakes, but getting on their backs from the first instance and not supporting them when they do something right is a disgrace. I personally stood and gave Jarrett an ovation off the pitch because i thought he had an excellent 2nd half. Also the treatment of Harewood was stupid. It wasn't a malicious challenge and to wait around to see if Green's okay is perfectly gentlemanly. A very retarded attitude i'm afraid to say.
I saw some odious ginger guy get asked out of the snakepit by the coppers, not sure what for. After seeing the guy at close quarters at Man City away last year i'm not surprised. He spent most of the match ignoring the game and being at t**t towards the other fans.
Anyway, i enjoyed the game. If we can get a solid right-back in (Wright?) i think we might still be alright. I'd love to see Jarrett and Etuhu get a run together as they certainly deserve it and Safri mopping up for them when he gets back! I'd like to see McVeigh and Henderson persevered with up front as they will make things, and Ashton when he comes back will profit off that.
