Seems to me that the issue with zero hours contracts is not with the contracts themselves

but with the way they dovetail with the benefits system. 66% of people on zero hours contracts are happy with them and say the flexibility suits them and they don;t want more hours. Its really not as big an issue as Miliband is making out.

However, two things are/were wrong. Firstly zero hours contracts that stop you doing any other work for anyone else. I'm not sure if this has been banned yet or the Tories are in the process of doing it but its happening. The second thing is where people are compelled to accept zero hours contracts because their jobseekers allowance gets stopped if they turn them down. That should not be the case. Its that which creates an unfair situation and needs reforming rather than banning zero hours contracts. They are fine where they suit both parties and are entered into voluntarily.
