I think that there is only so much the government can alter, the rest is changed by Europe, money men, massive companies etc. I don't believe there is a right left or centre party anymore. Best MP we ever had in the fens was Clement Freud if only because he genuinely cared for his constituency and held surgeries in all towns fortnightly. Once we had a tory in I never saw the bloke in 20 years. Even my dad who was from Sussex and a staunch Tory begrudgingly admitted Freud was a very good MP.I think part of it was be had nothing to prove - already a millionaire, writer, radio presenter etc.
