They are pretty much bang on in terms of overall influence. Scotland has 59 Westminster seats, which is 9% of the total 650. In the 2011 census, Scotland?s estimated population was 8.4% of the UK population according to Wiki User Posted Link

So Scotland does not wield a disproportionate influence in Westminster. It's just that it seems to have a tendency in recent decades to vote in a block - a huge slab of Labour seats for decades, now a huge slab of SNP seats
