My curiosity having been aroused

I got interested enough to GIYLF it!

According to this User Posted Link Scottish constituencies are slightly smaller: ?The typical size of constituencies differs between parts of the UK. The Office for National Statistics gives the median total parliamentary electorate across constituencies of about 72,400 in England, 69,000 in Scotland, 66,800 in Northern Ireland and 56,800 in Wales.?

They are pretty much bang on in terms of overall influence. Scotland has 59 Westminster seats, which is 9% of the total 650. In the 2011 census, Scotland?s estimated population was 8.4% of the UK population according to Wiki User Posted Link

So Scotland does not wield a disproportionate influence in Westminster. It's just that it seems to have a tendency in recent decades to vote in a block - a huge slab of Labour seats for decades, now a huge slab of SNP seats
