Joking aside its not restricted to football. We have the same in my sport. We've got

IFAF (international federation of American football) and EFAF (European). EFAF was a member of IFAF and all was relatively calm. But the last 6 or 7 years the two have gone on a collision course. Both have presidents who are mini-blatters. Both smell a bit of naughtiness. IFAF creates IFAF Europe a couple of years back and starts a schism in Europe. EFAF blatter is also president of the German association which runs the GFL (German football league). EFAF has agreed to scale back and allow IFAF Europe to operate. And then quietly last year this thing called GFLI (German football league international) starts up under the radar and is now nicking away at IFAF. Everyone pointing fingers at each other for wrongdoing. And of course the sport and the people playing and coaching and watching it are the ones who suffer

I hate it when politics and money creeps into sport. But I guess it creeps into everything successful.
